Peabody — Leah J. (Rappa) Carvino, 60, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning at the Lahey Clinic in Peabody. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Leah is survived by her husband, James Carvino, with whom she shared over 38 years of marriage. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her son and his wife, Jamie and Taylor Carvino of Haverhill, her two daughters, Leanne Carvino of New York and Christina Carvino of Boston, her father, Neil R. Chambers of Seabrook, her brother Neil Chambers of Haverhill, her twin sisters, Kim Chambers of Newburyport and Karen Chambers of Salem, and her two grandchildren, Chelsea Curtis and Lillian Carvino.
Leah was born in Everett to the late Walter Rappa and the late Lillian (Davis) Chambers. She was raised by her loving parents, Lillian and Neil Chambers. Leah spent her early childhood in Revere, and then went on to live in Peabody for the majority of her life.
Leah was employed as a research coordinator for Matthew Heller, M.D. with Arthritis Associates in Peabody. Prior to that, Leah worked mother’s hours as a medical receptionist for Thomas O’Shea, M.D., and as a teacher’s aide for the West Memorial Elementary School. Always taking an active interest in her children, Leah served as a President of the Parent Teacher’s Association (PTA) at the West Memorial. She also sang in the choir at St. Adelaide’s Church and was very involved with other charitable activities through the church.
ARRANGEMENTS: Leah’s funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28 at 9 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 27 from 4 until 8 p.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
