PEABODY — Mrs. Teresa (Walsh) Kilfoyle, 86, of Peabody, beloved wife of the late Joseph Kilfoyle, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Salem Hospital, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Johanna (Mahoney) Walsh. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of the former St. John’s Girls High School. She continued her education working diligently and earned her degree from Boston College. Mrs. Kilfoyle dedicated her life to others in many ways. Professionally she spent over thirty five years as a second grade teacher in the Peabody School System until the time of her retirement.
A well-known resident of the city of Peabody, Mrs. Kilfoyle was a longtime dedicated member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member of the Peabody Teachers Union, the Danvers Council on Aging, the Retired State Court & Municipal Employees Association and the Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts.
An active woman throughout her life, Teresa was an avid reader; she had a true affinity for Irish music and was a renowned gardener. Her greatest pleasure came from time spent with family. She was devoted to her loving husband, son and grandchildren and was always very proud of all of their accomplishments.
Teresa was faithful to her family and her church. Through the work of her life, she provided dedication and devotion to others. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all.
Teresa is survived by her son Kevin V. Kilfoyle and his wife Patricia of Swampscott; her grandchildren, Matthew Keane and his wife Melissa Gilbert Keane of Boca Raton, Fla., Kevin Keane and his wife Marissa Madigan Keane of New York City and Lisa Kilfoyle and Mike Apicella of Chelmsford; her sisters, Helen Kolago of Avon, Conn. and Joan Moquin of Peabody; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Mark and Maura Kilfoyle and also sister of the late Deacon Martin Walsh, Francis Walsh and David Walsh.
