Hamilton, MA — Richard J. Ceremsak of Hamilton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at age 85, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Marion (Serback) Ceremsak. Richard is survived by his daughters, Judith King and her husband, Mark, of Boston, Mass., Jane Roundy and her husband, Glenn, of Hamilton, Mass., and Lynda Ceremsak and her husband, George Davitt, of Wellesley, Mass.; and his grandchildren, Amanda King McBee and her husband, Wilson, Tucker and Sarah Roundy, and Caroline and Sam Davitt.
Born in Trenton, N.J., Richard joined the Navy at age 17 and was stationed in Shanghi, China. Upon his return, he graduated from Trenton High and later from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., with a degree in metallurgical engineering. After moving to Hamilton 51 years ago, Richard worked at General Electric and Digital Equipment Corporation. He was a member of the auxiliary police force in the Town of Hamilton for many years. He was the Hamilton representative to the school committee for the North Shore Regional Vocational School for nine years. Richard and Marion chaperoned a group of students from the school on a trip to Russia in 1989. Known for his dry sense of humor, Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting the coast of Gloucester, and taking photographs.
ARRANGEMENTS: It was Richard’s wish to have his ashes scattered at sea. There are no visiting hours.
