Bernard Charles Esancy, 96, of Raymond NH, formerly of Peabody, husband of the late Corinne (Jordan) Esancy, died on Sunday at the Exeter Hospital in NH while surrounded by his family.
Mr. Esancy was born in Union, Maine son of Burleigh and Gertrude (Wentworth) Esancy. He was raised in Union, ME and graduated from Union High School. In 1943, he enlisted into the Army and served with the 9th Army Division as a bridge engineer until receiving his honorable discharge in 1945. He later went to school in Boston to become a refrigeration mechanic. In 1952, he moved his family to Peabody where he resided until moving to Raymond, NH in 2002.
Mr. Esancy was employed for 25 years as a refrigeration mechanic at H.P. Hood until his retirement in 1980. He then drove a school bus part time for Travel Time and later was a delivery driver of medical products for Syncor International a position which he held for 5 yrs.
Mr. Esancy was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Peabody and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lynnfield prior to moving to NH.
Mr. Esancy is survived by 2 sons, Douglas Esancy and his wife Susan of Beverly, and David Esancy of Raymond, NH with whom he resided; 5 grandchildren, Kevin Esancy, Maryanne Peca both of Beverly, Ryan Ouellette, Lindsay Esancy and Matthew Esancy all of Raymond, NH; 4 great grandchildren, Jessica and Stephen Robinson, Braeden and Luke Peca all of Beverly; 2 sisters, Thelma Lonn of ME and Winola Sinclair of Natick; 4 brothers, Arnold Esancy of ME, Leon Esancy of VA, Herman Esancy of NC, Lloyd Esancy and his wife Alice of RI; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Mabel Alley, Arlene Layr and Agnes Worthley.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
