Karen Smyrnios, 71


Beverly, MA — Karen Smyrnios, 71, was raised in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School. She worked as a waitress in her younger adult years and moved on to nursing for the remainder of her career. Ms. Smyrnios worked at various nursing homes around the North Shore and had tremendous compassion for all her patients. She also paid special attention to those who had no family. Known for her sense of humor, Karen made a difference in the lives of those she touched.

Karen also had a deep love for animals, especially horses and dogs. Karen raised, bred and showed horses for much of her life with her very close friends.

Karen leaves behind a brother, Robert Peterson of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Nancy Talbot and her husband, Thomas, of Norway, Maine, and Susan Wright and her husband, Gene, of Hamilton, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Betty and Bob Peterson; her ex-husband, Jimmy Smyrnios; and her sister-in-law, Lavinia Peterson.
