Beverly — Shirley L. (Puska) Anderson, 84, wife of the late Franklin E. Anderson, died on Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Essex Park Rehabilitation Center in Beverly.
Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Larabee) Puska. She was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1946.
Mrs. Anderson began her career at the age of 17 as a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Co. and AT&T, until the time of her retirement following 40 years of service.
Shirley enjoyed spending time at the beach, traveling, dining out, and the companionship of her dog, Buffy. She also enjoyed ceramics and attending many fairs. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving her are three beloved sons, Thomas P. Hogan and his wife, Paula, of Naples, Fla., and Brian M. Hogan and his wife, Anne, of Danvers, and her devoted son, Kenneth N. Hogan of Beverly; her loving daughter, Lauren M. Donahue of Beverly; four grandchildren, Ryan Hogan of Philadelphia, Pa., Kailey Novikov and her husband, Ivan, of Portland, Maine, Matthew Hogan and Andrew Hogan, both of Danvers; many nieces, nephews and close friends; and the Cohanes and the Trepaniers. She was also the mother-in-law of the late Ben R. Donahue, and sister of the late Phyllis M. Spearel and Paul H. Puska.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Essex Park for their loving care.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held in the Campbell–Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, on Saturday, December 28, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
