Peabody — Mr. Richard V. Metivier, age 71, of Peabody, died Saturday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Natalie (Rubi) Metivier, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Valmore and Julia (Lemek) Metivier. He attended Rhode Island Schools and was a graduate of Coventry High School.
Prior to his retirement, Richard was the owner of Dairy Queen in Coventry, R.I., and was the supervisor of Pewter Pots in the North Shore area. He was also the president of the Chamber of Commerce in Coventry, R.I. He enjoyed vacations to Florida, including Hollywood and Miami Beach, cruising and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Richard V. Metivier Jr. and his wife, Katie of Danvers, Cindy Ciman and her husband, John of Peabody and Susan Nightingale and her husband, Alan of Deering, N.H. He was the grandfather to Ryan Moorer and his wife, Kerry, Matthew Moorer, Sarah and Emily Ciman, Andrew Metivier and Luke and Logan Metivier. He was the brother to Dennis Metivier and his wife, Barbara of West Greenwich, R.I., and Judith McFarren and her husband, Jack of Coventry, R.I. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Richard’s Funeral Service will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Friday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation prior to the Service beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Riverside, R.I.
