Burlington — Christopher David Walsh, age 74, of Bedford, formerly of Winchendon, died at Lahey Hospital, Burlington, on Sunday, December 22, 2013, following a long illness. Born in Marblehead, the son of the late Richard and Helen (Godfrey) Walsh, he was raised and educated in Marblehead, where was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Mr. Walsh graduated from Marblehead High School in the Class of 1957 where he played the trumpet in the MHS Marching Band. He then served in the United States Navy until becoming disabled. Following his discharge, he enjoyed travel, going out to eat, and shopping. He was known for his sharp, dry wit and his lifelong passion as an Elvis fan and had traveled to visit Graceland. Mr. Walsh will be missed by friends from Maine to Florida. He is survived by a brother, Peter G. Walsh and his wife, Nelida of Henderson, Nev.; two sisters, Sarah Goldsmith and her husband, Robert of Carlisle, Mass., and Mary Ellen Branscombe and her husband, Norris of Marblehead; seven nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-grandnephew.
ARRANGEMENTS: A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, on Saturday, December 28, 2013. A Funeral procession will continue to Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead, for graveside funeral services with Military Honors.
