Peabody, MA — Eileen A. (Elsden) Duffy, age 89, of Peabody, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in a Union Hospital in Lynn, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Duffy Jr., and the daughter of the late John and Mary (Cowan) Elsden.
Born in Boston, Eileen was raised in Medford, graduating from Medford High School, class of 1942. She made her home for her husband Edward and her two sons in Tewksbury for over thirty years, and later in Peabody. She also worked for her husband Dr. E.F. Duffy Optometrist’s Offices in Medford and Tewksbury. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing cards and cribbage and trips to Foxwood.
She is survived by her son, Stephen E. Duffy Sr. and his wife, Sue, of Lynn; three grandchildren, Stephen E. Duffy Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Lynn, Marc E. Duffy and Shaun Duffy, both of Peabody; as well as her daughter-in-law, Janice Duffy of Peabody; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Paul Duffy, the grandmother of the late Michael Duffy, and the sister of the late John Elsden and Alice White.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be held in St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Tewksbury on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Tewksbury Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held in the Solimine, Landergan & Richardson Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Route 129, Lynn, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Care Hospice, 210 Market St., Lynn, MA 01901.
