Wenham — Mrs. Ramona (Whitmore) French, beloved wife of the late Maxwell French, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on September 13. She was 96. Born in Orrington, Maine, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Albra (Hoxie) Whitmore.
A Wenham resident since 1970, Ramona was a lifelong artist with a focus on Early American decoration. She shared her talents by teaching classes on stenciling, reverse painting on glass, country tin and theorem painting for over 50 years.
She is survived by two nieces, Ramona Benvie and Pamela Caballero; two nephews, Craig Benvie and Charles Benvie. She was also the sister of the late Joan Benvie and Edmund Leavitt.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 18, at 11 a.m. at the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location). Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Her burial was held in South Orrington, Maine, on September 20.
