Elizabeth A. Hartling, 66

Danvers — Elizabeth A. (Grant) Hartling 66, a resident of Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers for the past three and a half years, formerly of Beverly, husband, Gerald Hartling Sr. of Lynn, died Wednesday, October 10, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Albert E. and Mary Elizabeth (Doherty) Grant. She received her education in the Beverly school system and earned her degree in teaching from Framingham State Teacher’s College.

Mrs. Hartling had been employed for several years as a school teacher, having taught at St. John the Evangelist School in Beverly. Prior to that she had worked as a substitute teacher in the North Shore area.

As a young woman, Mrs. Hartling was active with the local Girl Scout troops. She had also volunteered her time to local organizations.

She is survived by her son Gerald Hartling Jr. and his wife, April, of Marlborough; a granddaughter Amalia Hartling; a sister Cynthia Grant of New Jersey; a brother Albert Grant Jr. and his wife, Pun-Ok of Methuen; several cousins, including, Barbara Wilkins of Effingham, N.H., Betty Farina and her husband, Santo of Florida, Robert Barker of Wenham, John Evans and his wife, Judith of Beverly, William Shea and his wife, Jeanette of Burlington, Kathie Dyrenforth and her husband, John of New Hampshire and Elizabeth Anne Johnson of Providence, R.I., several nieces and nephews including, Cathie Grant of Lawrenceville, Ga., Kevin Grant and his wife, Jillian of Concord, N.H. and Julia Jacobs of Somerville.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly, Tuesday, October 16, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location), Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in Hamilton Cemetery.
