Lillian (Chiplovitz) Wacks, 99

Marblehead — Lillian (Chiplovitz) Wacks, 99, of Marblehead, entered into rest on Saturday morning, January 18, 2014, at the North Shore Medical Center–Salem Hospital, Salem. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Louis Wacks. Born in Nashua, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Ida (Doverinsky) Chiplovitz. She was a graduate of Beverly High School and Salem State College.

Mrs. Wacks had been employed as a substitute teacher at the Lynn, Swampscott and Marblehead schools, where she specialized in business courses.

A resident of Marblehead since 1965, she was an active member of Congregation Shirat Hayam of the North Shore and the former Temple Beth El sisterhood in Swampscott. Lillian enjoyed playing bridge, and often went to the Marblehead Senior Center, where she will be missed by all her friends.

She is survived by two devoted sons, Paul Wacks and his wife, Harriet, of Peabody, and William Wacks and his wife, Maurine, of Sharon; her loving sister, Frances Katz of Swampscott; four cherished grandchildren, Julie and Richard Gold, Jamie Wacks and her husband, Philip Berk, Jeffrey Wacks and his fiancée, Neha Patel, and Steven Wacks; four adored great-grandchildren, Kyle and Luke Gold, and Alexander and Benjamin Berk; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Benjamin and Irving Chipman.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were held at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, Salem, on Sunday, January 19. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial observance today, Monday, from 2 to 8 p.m., at the home of Paul and Harriet Wacks.
