Lynn, MA — Carol (Roy) Tischner passed peacefully into the loving hands of Jesus, surrounded by her family, at the North Shore Medical Center in Salem, Mass., on January 24, 2014. She was born in Boston on June 3, 1939, and was the daughter of Gladys (MacFarlane) and Henry Roy. She was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament High School in Jamaica Plain, Mass. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, John (and Anna)Tischner of St. Petersburg, Fla., Steven Tischner of Portsmouth, Greg (and Laura) Tischner of Clearwater, Fla., Maureen (and John) Porter of Hollis, and Annmarie (and Michael) Vermette of Concord; her sister, Evelyn (and Buddy) Lydon of Nashua, Gail Roy of Rockport, Mass., and Gerald Roy of Somerville, Mass. She is predeceased by brothers, Robert, Steven, and George Roy. Upon marriage, Carol settled in Pennsauken, N.J., where her five children were born. She later moved to New Hampshire and lived in Merrimack and Nashua. She returned to school and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in theology from Rivier University. Carol worked for many years in various hospitals and skilled nursing facilities, providing faith-filled care of the sick and disabled. She was a parishioner of St. Pius V in Lynn, Mass., where she was a Eucharist Minister, and an active participant in the local hospitals’ Chaplain ministry for the sick. She loved singing in the choir, living near the ocean, but most especially, spending time with her 11 grandchildren, Zoe, John, Christopher, Sabrina, Allissa, Kennedy, Grant, Jeffrey, Evan, Nicholas, and Sarah.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 28, at 9 a.m., at Christ the King Parish, St. John the Evangelist Church, Concord, N.H. No calling hours will be held. Burial will be held in Canton, Mass., with her immediate family.
