Dorothy Allingham Spinney, 92


Salem — Dorothy Allingham Spinney, 92, of Salem, died on Thursday morning, January 23, 2014, at her home. Born in Attleboro, Mass., she was the widow of Lt. Frank J. Staron and Lt. Col Henry F. Spinney. She is survived by her children, Henry F. Spinney Jr. of Salem, Mass., William A. Spinney of Bethlehem, Pa., and daughter, Deborah S. Bateman of East Syracuse, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Alexander Spinney, Laura Nelson, Karen McAnanama, Elizabeth Brown, Christine Bateman, and Matthew Bateman; and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing, served as an anesthetist in the U.S. Army during WWII, graduated from Miami University, and retired from the Federal Civil Service. She was a member of the Old Concord Chapter of the DAR.
