Mrs. Agnes G. (Devlin) “Devy” Reardon, 89, beloved wife of the late John Joseph Reardon, died Sunday evening at home in Ipswich.
Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Leo A. and Sylvia (Messier) Devlin. She was raised and educated in Brockton and continued her education at Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her nursing degree. Later in her life, Mrs. Reardon began her second career as an educator.
As a registered nurse and an educator for many years, Mrs. Reardon had the privilege of touching many lives in both her professions.
A resident of Delaware for many years, Mrs. Reardon was a member of the faculty at the Holy Rosary School and The St. Christiner School as well as being very involved in parish life. She moved to Ipswich six years ago to be closer to her family. A communicant of Our Lady of Hope Church in Ipswich, “Devy,” as she was affectionately known, was a loving mother and grandmother, who cherished the time she spent with her family.
“Devy” is survived by three sons, John R. Reardon Jr. of Medina, OH, Timothy R. Reardon and his wife Susan of Antioch, CA, and Thomas M. Reardon and his wife Anne Hezzey of Ipswich, her two daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Scranton and her husband Robert of Carmel, IN, and Kathleen Draughon and her husband Thomas of Ashland, WI, her ten grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Patricia Spaulding.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Hope Church, Linebrook Road, Ipswich, Saturday, March 31st, at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hour in the Our Lady of Hope Church prior to the Mass, from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Square (at Salem Common), Salem.
