Mary (Marilyn) Lincoln (Buell) Corning, 83


WENHAM & PEABODY — Mary (Marilyn) Lincoln (Buell) Corning, 83, beloved wife of Col. Stuart S. Corning Jr. Born September 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Mary Colby Buell and the late Theodore Lincoln Buell of Wellesley, MA.

An Oberlin graduate, Marilyn worked at Harvard University until her marriage in 1958. A longtime Wenham resident, she was a member of the First Church in Wenham for over 50 years and spent many of those years singing in the choir. She served as Office Manager at the Wenham Museum from 1979 to 1998, with a focus on membership and education. She enjoyed many old school skills such as baking, pickling, knitting, sewing and had a beautiful rose garden. Along with her husband Stuart, she was an avid world traveler. She and Stuart recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. She spent many happy hours reading by the water and enjoying the family summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee with her family.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two children: Beth Sedler of Newbury and Scott Corning and his wife Halie of Andover; two brothers: Senator Robert Buell of Boxford and David Buell of Marblehead and Vero Beach, Florida; one sister: Elizabeth Uhl, formerly of Wellesley; and four grandchildren: Mary and Danielle Sedler and Silas and Wyatt Corning.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Service will be held at the First Church in Wenham, 1 Arbor Street, Wenham, on Saturday, March 30, at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Immediately following the service, family and friends are cordially invited to the Lower Church Hall for Libation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marilyn’s Memory to the First Church in Wenham, P.O. Box 487, Wenham, MA 01984 or to the Wenham Museum, 132 Main St., Wenham, MA 01984.
