Raleigh, N.C. — Robert Philip Maher, 84, of Raleigh, NC, died at home November 9, 2012, in the company of his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ida (Jalbert) Maher.
Born in Peabody, Robert was the son of the late Edward and Eleanor (Andrews) Maher. Robert lived in Salem most of his life before moving to North Carolina 7 years ago. After serving his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, Robert worked as a truck driver for Van Dusen Aviation at Logan Airport and for many years worked as a milkman for HP Hood. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cribbage and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot fan.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol Brusso and her husband Rodney of Raleigh, NC, his two sons, Robert Maher and his wife Cindy of Knightdale, NC, and David Maher and his wife Patricia of Stoughton, MA, five grandchildren, Robert, Justin, and Jared Maher, Jennifer Reynolds and Rachael Dulong, two great-grandchildren, Nola Reynolds and James Sears and a sister Anne Maher of Peabody, MA. Robert was predeceased by a sister, H. Virginia (Maher) Bitchell of Peabody, and a brother, Edward Maher of Salem.
