Louise Kessaris, 87

Beverly — Louise (Eliopoulos) Kessaris, a native of Salem and a lifelong resident of Beverly, died peacefully on Sunday evening, April 21, 2013, at the Beverly home of her beloved daughter, Diane Adams, and son-in-law, Robert. She was surrounded by her loving family.

In the words of her daughter, Diane, “My mother was full of grace and beauty, a sweet yet strong woman who loved her God, who never gossiped or spoke ill of anybody, and who instilled in us a respect for all people. Through the everyday examples of her life and choices, she consistently modeled for us grace and courage.”

A stay-at-home mother for the first two decades of her marriage to Beverly native Paul Kessaris, Mrs. Kessaris entered the work force in 1973 after her daughter Mary Ann passed away at the age of 19. She began her role as administrative assistant in the Registrar’s Office of North Shore Community College on Essex Street, formerly the site of Beverly High School, where Mrs. Kessaris' husband graduated from, and which later became an assisted living campus where she would enjoy many years.

During her time at North Shore Community College, Mrs. Kessaris continued to educate herself and only retired from her post when her first grandson, Paul Adams, was born in 1985. Her second grandson, Alex Adams, was born in 1988. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren. From the day they were brought home from the hospital, "YiaYia," as her grandsons called her, came to visit the boys every day after her water aerobics class and lunch. Her time with them is very fondly remembered by her family. Louise is also survived by a sister, Mary Lazarakis of Beverly and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

An expert seamstress, Mrs. Kessaris shared her exquisite creations with her family, from making clothes for her own daughters to designing beautiful layette items and baby blankets for her grandsons.

In addition to her devotion to her family, Mrs. Kessaris loved her church, and was passionate about cooking, the ocean, and taking long walks. She will be missed by all who knew her.
