Chelsea — Mr. Albert D. McDougall, 90, beloved husband of the late Constance V. (Hyslop) McDougall, died at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, on Thursday, April 17, 2014.
Born in Fall River, Mass., on October 12, 1923, he was the beloved youngest child of the late James and Marie E. (Durand) McDougall. He was predeceased by young siblings. James, Genevieve and David; and by sisters. Christina Joan Dolan, Margaret Doralita Pemberton and Marie Elizabeth (Dot) Cabral.
Mr. McDougall was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS LST 553. After the war, he graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautical Engineering in Tulsa, Okla., before working until his retirement for General Electric Co. in the Aircraft Engine Group in Lynn, Mass., as an engineer and a computer systems designer.
He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
In his spare time, Albert enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and raising Black and Tan Coon Hounds. He also loved bird watching, raising vegetables in his garden, and playing his guitar.
He will be very greatly missed by his loving sons and daughters-in-law, David J. and his wife, Albertina M. McDougall of Peabody, and Thomas D. and his wife, Laurie McDougall of Round Hill, Va.; four grandchildren, David J. Jr., Alexandra C., Andrew R., and James T. McDougall.
ARRANGEMENTS: His memorial service will be celebrated at F. S. Roberts and Son Funeral Home, Rowley, Mass., on Saturday, May 3,at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at the South Byfield Cemetery, Georgetown. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
