Newburyport — Helen Frances Tierney, 66, Newburyport, Mass., passed away on Wednesday, April 16, in Marathon, Fla. She was the daughter of the late Irene and Stephen P. Tierney Jr. of Topsfield, Mass. Helen was born in Beverly, Mass., but spent her life in Topsfield and Newburyport. She was employed as a customer service manager at the New England Telephone Co., and in later years, worked part-time at Bob Lobster on Plum Island. Helen loved to travel and read. She eventually ended up settling down in Marathon. She was an active member of the Newburyport Elks, a member of the board of directors of the Central Congregational Church, a past general chairperson of the Newburyport Yankee Homecoming, and a past member of the Seacoast Lions Club.
Helen is survived by her brother, Stephen P. Tierney III, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; her nephew, Michael C. Tierney and his wife, Barbara; and her two nieces, Carrie Draper and her husband, Kevin, and Nancy McClain and her husband, Mike; along with numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
