A. Carol Tuneburg, 82, of Rust Street, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, following her long illness.
Born in Ipswich March 10, 1930, daughter of the late Horace and Pauline (Woodward) Perkins, she was raised in Ipswich and was a 1948 graduate of Ipswich public schools. Married in the United Methodist Church of Ipswich, the Tuneburgs made their home on Hamilton Avenue in Hamilton for 22 years, moving to Georgia for the next 23 years. In 2000 she returned to her late Hamilton home on Rust Street, Hamilton.
She was a longtime member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church. She served as the secretary and treasurer of the Hamilton Housing Tenants Association and enjoyed reading and music, and singing in her church choir.
She is survived by three sons, Larry R. Tuneburg and his wife Catherine of New Brunswick, Leonard K. Tuneburg and his fiancée Amy Richmond of Essex, and Michael D. Tuneburg and his wife Sonia of Jasper, Ga.; a daughter, Joyce Piotrowski and her husband Philip of McDonough, Ga.; her former daughter-in-law, Patricia Cogswell of Danvers; six grandchildren, David Piotrowski and his wife Stephanie of College Park, Ga., Daniel Piotrowski and his wife Christine of Lawrenceville, Ga., Robert Tuneburg and his wife Christine of Newburyport, Kristin Dahl of Brooklyn, N.Y., Benjamin Tuneburg of Essex, and Jason Tuneburg of Jasper, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Alexander, Eden and Madison Piotrowski, all of Georgia, and Nolan and twins Chase and Ava Tuneburg, all of Newburyport; a sister, Phyllis Blunda of Ipswich; and several nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Marion Holder, formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
