Beverly — Anne (Kovalchuk) Derby died Tuesday, May 22, at Beverly Hospital. She was 85. Born and raised in Salem, she was daughter of the late Keril and Julia (Marcello) Kovalchuk. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren H. Derby, Jr.
As a longtime resident of Beverly, Anne worked for the city in several capacities, first working as a crossing guard and later at City Hall as a clerk in the collector’s office. She was a devout member of the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church of Salem. Anne was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who was generous to all those who have come to know her. She leaves her two daughters: Diane Stamatakos and her husband Tom of Deer Park, Wash.; Elizabeth Bell and her husband Douglas of Peyton, Col.; and a grandson Douglas Bell, Jr.; also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Tillie Lach and Alexander Kovalchuk.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be celebrated in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 64 Forrester Street, Salem, on Friday, May 25th, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 24th, in the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, from 4 to 7 PM. Services will conclude with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne’s name to her beloved St. Nicholas Church.
