LYNN — Mr. John A. Elliott, 80, of Lynn, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dorothy (Seckar) Elliott, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Augustus J. and Alice W. (LaBorde) Elliott. He was a graduate of Salem High School and had lived in Lynn for many years.
John started as a machinist for the former United Shoe Machinery Corporation, holding many positions in Beverly for 38 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Gannon Golf Course as well as the Quarter Century Club at United Shoe Machinery. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard Elliott of Boise, Idaho; five daughters, Laurie DeMarco and her husband Nick of Clifton Park, N.Y., Kristine Rynne and her husband John of Brandon, Vt., Carol Lozier and her husband John of North Andover, Janet Elliott of Beverly, and Sharon Thompson and her husband Randall of Danville, N.H.; one sister, Lona Belanger of Virginia; as well as 13 grandchildren, Lalena, Diana, Nicholas and David DeMarco, Matthew, Stephen, Timothy and Sean Rynne, William and Emily Lozier, Jared Rodriguez, and Deckard and Stirling Thompson. He was the brother of the late Peter and James Elliott and Evangeline Kastanopoulos.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
