Henrietta Batchelder, R.N., 103


Peabody MA — Henrietta Batchelder died peacefully on Thursday, December 27, 2012, just shy of her 104th birthday. She was the daughter of Antonina and Stefan Zdanowicz, graduated in 1930 from the St. Mary of Nazareth School of Nursing in Chicago and practiced as a Registered Nurse well into her 60s. Henrietta was devoted to her family, and in later years, nurtured and cared for her sister Victoria. She is survived by sister Jane Melody of Peabody, sister-in-law Gertrude Zdanowicz of Peabody and stepson Harry C. Batchelder Jr. of New York.

Henrietta, also known as Rara, Rhetta, or Donnie, was a former member of the Peabody Council on Aging and the Peabody Garden Club. She enjoyed Chinese food, jelly donuts, watching “Dancing with the Stars” and loved those slots at Foxwoods.

She was predeceased by her husband Harry C. Batchelder and seven brothers and sisters; Joseph Zdanowicz, Frank Zdanowicz, John Zdanowicz, Edmund Zdanowicz, Helen Duda, Victoria Zdanowicz, Amelia Zdanowicz and stepdaughter and husband Josephine and John Cosentino.

ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service in her honor will be held at a later date.
