Helen Conway


Groveland, MA — Helen (Bongette) Conway, 73, passed away on December 29, 2012, at Kindred Care & Rehabilitation Center in Newburyport. She was the wife of Raymond G. Conway.

Born on November 20, 1939, Mrs. Conway was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Holychuck) Bongette.

Helen was educated in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. After raising her family she studied at Northern Essex Community College where she earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She then began a career that spanned 17 years working in various nursing homes and as Health Activity Director and Home Health Aid at Lawrence General Hospital before retiring in 1994. For 17 years Helen was an avid swimmer as a member of Cedardale and participated in the water aerobics class. She enjoyed long walks at the stadium and working in her yard.

Besides her husband of 47 years, Helen is survived by her daughters, Darlene Harrings and husband Douglas of Cary, NC, Christina Lynn Allen and husband Frank of Lexington Park, MD; one granddaughter, Kelly Harrings; brother, Joseph Martin and wife Paula of Salem, MA; sister, Josephine Sabutka of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to the memorial service on Friday at 7 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the service from 5 to 7 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.dcsfuneralhome.com
