Ruth F. Keeffe, 91

Beverly — Mrs. Ruth Frances (Marrin) Keeffe, 91, formerly of Salem and Hyannis passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers in the comforting presence of her family. She was the beloved wife of John J. Keeffe.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna (Kennedy) Marrin. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine (Marrin) Davis of Coral Gables, Fla.

As a young woman, Mrs. Keeffe was employed at GTE Sylvania in the Accounting Department on Loring Avenue in Salem. There she met her husband, John, with whom she shared 57 wonderfully happy years of marriage.

Ruth was a long-time resident of Salem. She was one of the founding members of Twins Club of the North Shore. She was the loving mother of three daughters, Patricia McGinness and her husband, John of Va., Kristine O’Day and her husband, Joseph of Salem and Jean Fernandes and her husband, John of Beverly; two sons, John D. Keeffe of Salem and Paul Keeffe and his wife, Kathleen of North Reading. She was also the devoted grandmother of seven grandchildren, Catherine, Andrea, Clare, Joseph, Maura, Patricia and Kristen, and she had many nieces and nephews.

Ruth found great joy during her years with John at their retirement home on the Cape. They encouraged their children and grandchildren to visit often, and this created joyous and lasting memories of being in Cape Cod with family. It was Ruth’s appreciation of life’s simple pleasures, the beauty in nature, and the joy of singing that brought immense joy to her, and to all in her presence.
