Peabody — Wilma Lou (Drope) Olsen, 72, formerly of Hamilton, passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, May 14, 2014, with her family by her side, at the Kaplan House in Danvers.
Wilma was born in Paragould, Ariz., on April 22, 1942, to the late Edgar and Oreatha Jane (Jackman) Drope. She was raised in Washington state and graduated from Clover Park High School. Wilma moved to Massachusetts in 1961, and settled in Hamilton, where she lived for over 30 years. More recently, she had lived in the Salem and Danvers area.
Wilma worked as a bookkeeper for the Hamilton Wenham School Department and Security National Bank in Danvers. Prior to her retirement in 2007, Wilma worked as a customer service representative with Sears.
Wilma was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed interior decorating and sitting on her porch admiring the view of the lake. Wilma was passionate about music, dance and especially her pets. In her final days, an occasional visit from a family dog appeared to bring her peace.
Wilma is survived by her children and their spouses, Lynne F. and Michael J. Rufo of Peabody, Lisa J. and Nathaniel McCormick of Washington, and Ward E. Cammett of Danvers; her grandchildren, Charissa Parker, Naomi, Lindsay and Ryan McCormick, and Kyanne and Kyle Cammett, Tara and Kristy Rufo, and Jennifer Mooney; in addition to eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Tommy Clark, Margaret Kinney, and Susan Perry, all of Washington, and Janice Lee of South Carolina; and her former husband, Donald Cammett of New Hampshire.
