Marblehead — Ruth A. (Lamson) Smith, 94, of Marblehead, passed away on May 17, 2014, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Warren N. Smith. Born in Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Mable (Snow) Lamson.
Raised and educated in Marblehead, she was a graduate of Marblehead High School, class of 1938. Ruth worked in the office at Winslow’s Chips and the B&M Railroad in Marblehead for several years. She was a volunteer at the Marblehead Female Humane Society and Meals on Wheels. A true Marbleheader, she loved rowing and spending time on the water. She also liked quilting.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Henry Allen Smith, Bradford Hale Smith, and Allison Smith Dennis; and her husband, Allan, all of Marblehead; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held at Waterside Cemetery, 294 West Shore Drive, Marblehead, on Wednesday, May 21, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Marblehead Female Humane Society, P.O. Box 425, Marblehead, MA 01945.
