Beverly Farms — Margaret A. Storer, 87, died peacefully on May 17, 2014, at her home in Beverly Farms, just down the street from the house where she was born on July 15, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Francis I. Amory and Margaret Perin Amory. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Robert T.P. Storer Jr.; and by her brother, Tom Amory; and siste,r Mary Baker. Marge is survived by her four children, Nancy Storer Lambrechts (Stefaan), Susan P. Storer, Robert T.P. Storer III (Donna), and Margaret Storer Garvey (Michael). She was Granny to Molly and Harry Storer, and Michael T.P. Garvey.
Family was the No.1 priority for Marge. She was a loving and nurturing wife, mother and granny. She had a wonderful sense of humor, which was especially evident as her dementia worsened. She was an avid tennis player and won the Club Championships in ladies doubles and parent-child tournaments at the Essex County Club numerous times. She loved winning at bridge, or go fish when bridge became too much. She could watch any sport on TV, from the Red Sox to the Bruins to the Patriots, and any golf, or tennis tournament, or horse race, and was known to place $1 bets with Susan and Mike Garvey. Throughout her life, her competitiveness shined brightly.
Besides tennis, Marge was probably best known for the shell collection that she and Bob amassed over 50 years of collecting. Bob and Marge started by collecting in Bermuda, Florida and the Caribbean, and then they spread their wings to exotic locales around the globe. Even when traveling in Ireland, they had to stop when they saw a beach to see if there were any shells. This love of travel and the joys of seeing new places and people was instilled in all four children – “collecting” is in their DNA.
Marge will be sorely missed by her family and friends, and by the Angels that took care of her the last few years, most especially Diane, Cindy and Kate.
