Beverly — George H. Garrett Jr., 82, beloved husband of Mary J. (Sabatini) Garrett, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his family.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late George H. Sr. and Alice (Baker) Garrett. He graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1949.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Navy.
Mr. Garrett had been employed for 44 years as a linesman for the Massachusetts Electric Company until the time of his retirement.
A longtime resident of the City of Beverly, he was a member of the Italian Community Center, the Beverly Elks and the Ancient Order of Hibernians (A.O.H.) in Salem. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving him are three daughters, Cynthia Garrett and her husband, James Monroe of Beverly, Catherine McGray and her husband, Kevin of Salem and Kelly Pike of Beverly; five grandchildren, Crystal, Tiffany, Kerry, Sarah and Jessica and four great-grandchildren, Angelina, Chase, Taylor and Layla.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly, Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private. We will always love you, Papa.
