Mr. James W. "Stoney" Stone, 65, of Lowell, formerly of Middleton, died February 2, 2012, at Saints Memorial Hospital in Lowell.
Born in Auburn, California, he was the son of the late Arthur and Henrietta Stone. He was raised and educated in Middleton Ma.
An honorably discharged and decorated veteran, Stoney served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
James had been employed for many years as a stone mason and roofer with several companies on the North Shore.
A longtime resident of the Town of Middleton, Mr. Stone was a former member of the American Legion Post 227 in Middleton. A proud and patriotic Marine, Stoney was always willing to help others in their time of need. He will be greatly missed. Semper Fi, brother Stone; you were a good and faithful servant of your country and your family. You will be deeply missed.
Stoney is survived by his three children and four grandchildren, his sister and fellow brothers in arms throughout the Marine Corps in the United States and abroad.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers, Saturday at 10:30 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church, Boston St., Middleton, at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in the National Cemetery, Bourne, is private. Visiting hour prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M.
