Dover, NH — Thomas Brophy, 84, of Holiday Drive, died on Monday, January 20, 2014, at his home at Maple Suites.
He was born on April 1, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was the son of Joseph and Rosalie “Honey” (Murphy) Brophy.
Tom was a longtime resident of Salem, Mass. He was an outstanding athlete, and graduated from Salem High School in 1946. He served as Military Police in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Tom worked for over 45 years as a telephone linesman for Bell Telephone. He was an avid golfer and sports fan, especially hockey.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie (Rowe) Brophy; and his parents.
Thomas is survived by two daughters, Christine Preston and her husband, Brian, of Dover, and Virginia Cocchi and her husband, William, of Sarasota, Fla.; and a son, Stephen Brophy of Boston. He is also survived by four siblings, John Brophy, Robert Brophy, Paula Ainsworth, Roland Brophy; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Friday, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a service to follow at 11 a.m., at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H.
