Edward F. Shipp, 82


BEVERLY & BROWNFIELD, ME — Edward F. Shipp, 82, beloved husband of Sheila (MacNutt) Shipp, passed away Tuesday, January 21, at Beverly Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Freeman M. and Louise (Butman) Shipp.

Edward grew up in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1949. It was after high school, he met his loving wife of 61 years. Before their marriage in 1952, Edward served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In 1974, Edward and his wife, Sheila, bought a home on Pequawket Lake in Brownfield, Maine. For many years, he was employed as a quality control manager for Varian. Edward was an avid golfer and made the news in the late 1960s for shooting a hole-in-one. He was a devoted, proud and loving family man, with an infectious smile and caring spirit. He will truly be missed by not only his family, but many friends.

In addition to his wife, Sheila of 61 years, he is survived by five children, Stephen M. Shipp and his wife, Roberta, of North Andover, Sandra L. Fereira and her husband, Rick, of Dover, Sally A. Cyr and her husband, Michael, of Beverly, Sherri C. Homas and her husband, Rich, of Ipswich and Stacey Vitale and her husband, Daniel, of Beverly; one brother, Donald M. Shipp of Brownville, ME; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Shipp, James, Timothy and Kimberly Fereira, Meaghan Cyr and Andrew and Jack Homas; two great-grandchildren, Audrey and Dylan Fereira; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Arlene Shipp and his sister, Jacqueline Henderson.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Service will be held at the Immanuel Congregational Church, 140 Bridge Street, Beverly on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Edward's memory to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
