Wenham — Mr. Girard R. “Dick” Lebel, 84, beloved husband of Jean B. (Mitchell) Lebel, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Alfred and Marie (Gagnon) Lebel. He graduated Cum Laude from Northeastern University in Boston earning a bachelors degree in Business Administration.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Lebel was a CPA and had been employed for many years in the banking field, retiring as Vice President and Treasurer of Bay Bank and Trust. He also operated his own tax and accounting business for many years. As a young man, Mr. Lebel played trumpet for the Salem Philharmonic Orchestra and was also an accounting teacher at Burdett Business College in Lynn, Mass.
A longtime resident of the Town of Wenham, he volunteered as treasurer of the Community Service of Hamilton-Wenham. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife with whom he shared sixty years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Christine Lebel of Wenham and Suzanne Lebel Cosgrove of Boston; one son, Fredric Lebel and his wife, Elizabeth, of Wenham; four grandchildren, Hannah and Jack Lebel and Reece and Amelia Cosgrove; a brother, Rudolph “Rudy” Lebel and his wife, Eleanor, of Plano, Texas; four nieces, Kathleen Ameduri, Maureen Hartford, Judy Lebel, and Janet Karch; and an aunt, Blanche Smiley of Danvers, Mass.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held in the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., North Beverly, Monday, July 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private.
