Salem — Carolyn T. Peirce, fondly known as Mimi, beloved mother of Sarah P. Mead, and Nancy T. Peirce, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan House in Danvers, Mass.
She had been suffering for the past year from MDS, a blood disorder. She lived in Salem for the past 28 years. In addition to her daughters, she leaves behind her sister, Sarah Morrison; her brother, Lewis Taylor; granddaughters, Meredith Lester, and Morgan Mead; and two nieces and six nephews.
Carolyn was born and raised in W. Hartford, Conn. where she enjoyed a large family and the love of the outdoors. She attended Dobbs Ferry and Katherine Gibbs. In 1954, she married R. Thomas B. Peirce Jr. and settled in Marblehead to raise Sarah and Nancy.
Carolyn was avid in sports and enjoyed skiing, sailing and tennis which she passed on to her daughters. Most recently she enjoyed her iPad where she loved to share email, do crosswords and play solitaire.
