Ipswich — Inez O. (Cardinal) Orsini, 99, wife of the late Gerald E. Orsini II, died Tuesday evening, November 27, 2012, after a short illness. Born in Swampscott on October 13, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin C. and Teresa (Orsini) Cardinal.
She was raised and educated in Swampscott. She married her husband Gerald in East Lynn in 1935 and they later made their home in Ipswich. She was a longtime and active member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ipswich. She was a member of the St. Joseph Guild, the Ipswich Catholic Women’s Club, the Caldwell Auxiliary, the Ipswich Golden Agers and the Whittier Manor Club. She was presently a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Ipswich. Mrs. Orsini was devoted to her family, especially to her grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed being with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald on November 7, 1981.
Mrs. Orsini is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Judith and Allan Lewis of Merrimack and Donna and Peter Foote of Ipswich; four grandchildren, Gabrielle Clark of Ipswich, David Lewis of Virginia, Lisa Finnegan of Newburyport and Robert Lewis of New Hampshire. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Orsini was predeceased by her son, Gerald E. Orsini III, formerly of Swampscott, on September 24, 2011. She was also predeceased by her three brothers and two sisters, Frank Cardinal, formerly of Mansfield, Louis Cardinal, formerly of Maryland, Dominic Cardinal, formerly of Salem, Josephine Orsini, formerly of Ipswich and Ida Minichiello, formerly of Florida.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 4, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be in the New Highland Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mrs. Orsini’s name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich, MA 01938.
