Frederick W. Jones, 71

Tamworth, N.H. — Mr. Frederick W. Jones, 71, beloved husband of Donna (Lavoie) Jones, died Friday evening, December 14, 2012, in Mass General Hospital, Boston.

Born in Amesbury, he was the son of the late William and Annette (Von Lieberman) Jones. He was educated in the Melrose Elementary School system and graduated from the former Topsfield High School, he furthered his education by attending the former Boston State College.

Fred was an honorably discharged veteran having served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Topsfield Fire Department for many years.

At the time of his retirement he was employed by the GTE Sylvania Company at its Sylvan Street Plant in Danvers with over thirty years of service. Upon his retirement he moved to Tamworth, N.H., where he became involved with the Community Food Center at St. Andrew in the Valley Church and was an active member of the church and served on the Vestry. He had a passion for snowmobiles and was a member of The Scrub Oak Scramblers Snowmobile Club and unofficial mayor of the Ossipee Lake Sandbar.

In addition to his loving wife of 30 years, Fred is survived by his sons, Frederick B. Jones and his wife, Lisa of Topsfield, Mark Jones and his wife, Julie of Hingham, and his daughter, Kimberley Row and her husband, Chris of Frederick, MD.; along with six grandchildren, Alexandra, Christopher, Carter, and Andrew Jones and Ryan and Collin Humphrey; his sisters, Patricia DiMaggio of Croydon, N.H, Stephanie Green of Falcarragh, Co. Donegal, Ireland, and Christina Delaney of Boxford; and his brother, Christopher Jones of Danvers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62), Danvers, Thursday, December 20, at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to service from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Fred's memory to Community Food Center, P.O.
