BEVERLY — Carol Malinowski, 59, beloved wife of Peter F. Malinowski, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a long battle with breast cancer.
From 2000 to 2012, she worked in psychiatric day treatment, serving as an occupational therapist at Cape Ann Adult Behavioral Learning Center in Beverly. Carol Diane Champion was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1953 to father, Harry B. Champion and mother, Ann Hartman Champion, and grew up in Natick. In 1975, she earned her BA from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where she met her devoted husband of 35 years, Peter. She earned her MS in occupational therapy from Sargent College of Boston University in 1988. Following graduation, she served as the Program Director at Perspectives Day Treatment in Wakefield for six years. In addition to her husband, Peter and father, Harry, Carol is survived by sister, Linda Champion; brother, David Champion; sister-and brother-in-law, Pat and Brian Evans; nieces, Jessie Byrne, Diana Evans and Lindsay Champion; nephew-in-law, Matt Byrne; loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and two special felines, Yaz and Ted.
A long-time runner, Carol competed in races throughout the New England area, including the Clarence DeMar Marathon. She became a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Four Thousand Footer Club after climbing all 48 official 4,000-foot peaks in the White Mountains. She was a dedicated Red Sox and Bruce Springsteen fan.
ARRANGEMENTS: A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly Location) on Thursday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
