Beverly — Joseph J. Birarelli. 45, of Beverly, died Tuesday morning at Beverly Hospital, with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of Nicole (Emond) Birarelli, with whom he shared 29 years of love.
Born in Beverly, he was the son of Richard Birarelli and the late Jean (Lucas) Birarelli. He was a graduate of the Beverly High School/Patton Vocation School in 1987.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Joe was a commercial fisherman. He owned and operated F/V Shooting Star and F/V Hat Trick, often working alongside his sons.
Joe was a true family man. Nothing brought him more pleasure than spending time with his entire extended family. The Birarelli House was always the destination for Greek Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or… any day; everyone was welcome. He had a habit of making everyone feel like family.
He was the proud father of Tim, Tom and Trey. Whether he was cheering on Tim at the hockey rink, passing on his love of fishing to Tom, or watching yet another parade at Disney with Trey, he was happiest with his sons.
Joe was known for his common sense, strong opinions, and wicked sense of humor. His motto was “Attitude makes a difference," and his positive attitude was contagious. He always looked for the good in situations.
He was grateful for all the love and support he received from the “Birarelli Strong” community.
He is survived by his wife, Nicole; sons, Tim, Tom, and Trey; his father, Richard Birarelli; and brothers, James and Michael. His chocolate lab, Rocco, will sorely miss him. Joe also leaves so many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
