Peabody, MA — Irene “Wanda” (Sczesiul) Gruntmeyer, age 92, of Peabody, formerly of East Bridgewater, died Tuesday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Albert Gruntmeyer. Born in South Boston, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Agatha (Pitkowski) Sczesiul. She was raised in South Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School. She lived in East Bridgewater for many years and had lived in Peabody for the past 26 years.
Wanda loved cryptograms and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed crafts.
She is survived by her two nieces, Santa Nestor and her husband, Thomas Meade, of Rowley and Marie D’Amico of Rowley; two nephews, Alexander Kozlowski of Pittsburg, NH and Edward Kozlowski of Carver; as well as her great-nieces and nephews, Kevin Nestor of Salem, Laura Nestor of Rowley and John Scott Muckian of Leominster; and great-nieces, Marisa and Morganna, and great-nephew, Owen. She was the aunt of the late Eleanor D’Amico Nestor.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., prior to the funeral.
