Beverly — Edward G. Morong, 80, of Salem, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at the Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Beverly.
Edward was known to many as “Froggy” because of the love of his French heritage.
Edward loved animals and had many pets throughout his life including dogs, exotic cats and a wolf. He was also an avid golf fan and loved to watch Gloucester High School Hockey and Football.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Salem, as a member of the United States Navy which he was very proud of.
Born in Gloucester on November 17, 1933, he was the husband of Florence I. (Lawnsby) Morong.
Edward is survived by five daughters, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four stepchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
