Lynn — Frank (Fred) Babbitt, age 87, of Lynn, husband of the late Helen Babbitt, devoted brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, with his family by his side.
He was born in Lynn, the son of the late Israel and Bessie Babbitt. Fred attended Lynn Classical and lived in Lynn throughout his life. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked at General Electric for over 41 years as a flowmeter specialist, retiring in 1988.
He enjoyed dancing, walking, reading and watching baseball. He also loved to play cribbage and make puzzles. His passion was being with his many grandchildren.
Frank is survived by children, Steven Babbitt and his wife, Diana, of Lynn, Bruce Babbitt and his wife, Tana, of North Easton, Janice Vautour and her husband, Don, of Amesbury, Daniel Babbitt and his wife, Kathleen, of Middleton. He also leaves his grandchildren, Shannon Hoyt and her husband, Bob, Jennifer Modini and her husband, Dan, Erin Bourke and her husband, Eric, Matthew, Karen, Patrick and Jeffrey Babbitt, Steven Elliott, Jessica Caron and husband, Ryan, Colleen and Ryan Doherty, Jonathan Vautour and Megan, Christopher Vautour and Alex, Janelle Vautour and Joel, Douglas, Corissa and Scott Babbitt; his great-grandchildren, Jaclyn and Brittany Hoyt, Alexander and Zackary Modini, Ella Bourke, Riley Caron as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves brother, Abraham Babbitt and wife, Frances; and niece, Diana R. Babbitt, who provided loving care for Fred. He was the father of the late Donna Doherty and the brother of the late Morris Babbitt, Samuel Babbitt and Hilda Nowakowski.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St., (Route 1A), Lynn. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
