Alden Trenholm, 79


Hamilton — Alden Trenholm, 79, of Hamilton, died on Friday, February 14, 2014, at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly. Born in Swampscott on July 3, 1934, he was the son of the Late George H. and Evelyn (Parson) Trenholm. Alden was raised in Saugus, and a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1952. He was veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in the Korean War. Alden worked for the New England Telephone Co. as a cable splicer for over 30 years, retiring in 1989. He also was a veteran of the Massachusetts Army National Guard Co. A 101st Combat Engineers and the Massachusetts Army National Guard Troop C 26 Cavalry. He was a member of the American Legion Post 194 of Hamilton, the VFW Post 1093 of Ipswich, and the New England Telephone Pioneers. Alden was a volunteer for many years at the Ipswich Animal Shelter, where he made a big contribution in helping to rescue and take care of animals.

He is survived by his son, Glenn A. Trenholm of Gloucester; his two daughters, Jean L. Watson and her husband, Kenneth, of Hamilton, and Marlene J. Trenholm and her fiancé, Matthew McCabe of Atkinson, N.H.; and a granddaughter, Megan E. Murphy of Hamilton. Alden was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Trenholm.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at the Campbell-Lee,Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, on Thursday February 20, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, February 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Ipswich Humane Group, P.O.
