Virginia L. (Russell) Prescott, 85


Peabody — Mrs. Virginia L. (Russell) Prescott, 85, of Peabody, formerly of Lynn, died on Monday February 24, 2014, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Robert Prescott.

Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Wheeler) Russell. She attended Lynn schools and was a graduate of Lynn English High School and of Burdett College. She had remained in Lynn until moving to Brooksby Village in 2004.

Virginia had worked for many years as an office manager at Shaughnessey Rehabilitation and Salem Hospitals.

She was a longtime member of the former Broadway and Maple Street Methodist Churches, where she was a Girl Scout leader. She was also active in the Sisson School PTA and in many other organizations. Virginia was a leader, who was never afraid to take charge and lead the group. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Cheryl Coolidge and her husband, Leigh, of Henniker, N.H., and Carla Meagher and her husband, Thomas, of Danvers; and four grandchildren, Todd and Tracy Coolidge of Henniker, and Daniel and Colleen Meagher of Danvers. She was also the sister of the late Harold Russell

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Thursday, at 11 a.m., in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Route 129, Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
