Norma Regan, R.N.


Marblehead — Mrs. Norma (Johnston) Regan, R.N., 84, of Marblehead, died peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Regan.

Born and raised in Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late Norman H. and Lillian May (Horne) Johnston. She graduated from Marblehead High School, Class of 1947, and received her R.N. degree from the Salem Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She raised her family in Lexington before moving back to Marblehead.

Norma worked for the Symmes Hospital in Arlington, the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehab. Hospital in Salem, and retired from the Lafayette Nursing Home, Marblehead.

She was an active member of the Alumni Association of Salem Hospital School of Nursing and of the Reunion Committee of the Class of 1947, Marblehead High School. She was a communicant of Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead.

Norma was the mother of Stephen F. Regan and his wife, Shelly, of Glens Falls, N.Y., and of Martha Cortina and her husband, Douglas, of Derry, N.H.; the sister of David C. Johnston, Paul D. Johnston and his wife, Patricia, and Celia Johnston, all of Marblehead; and the grandmother of Melissa Cortina, Kimberly Cortina, Heather Regan, and Laura Regan. She also leaves several nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 28, at 11 a.m., in Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Norma’s memory be made to Care Dimensions (Hospice of the North Shore), 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
