Nurnberg, Germany — Frank W. Wilmers, 86, died suddenly on July 17, 2013, in Nurnberg, Germany. He was the husband of Liane (Schwarz), to whom he would have been married to for 62 years this August. Born in Furth, Germany, on December 12, 1925, he was the son of Joseph W. Wilmers and Elizabeth Kromwell. He came to the Unite States as a young boy, attending Cheshire Academy Ct., St. John's Prep., and Tufts University. During WWII, he served in the Pacific as a Navy Seabee. He was the general manager of Lederwerke Kromwell, Nurnberg, Germany.
He is also survived by his brothers, Stephen Burrell and his wife, Mary, William Wilmers and his wife, Michele, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Werner Swartz and his wife, Anita, of Nurnberg, Germany; his nieces, Tracey Burrell-Hudson and her husband, Nathan, of Topsfield, Ursula Burrell-Meier and her husband of San Diego, Calif., Mary-Jo Burrell-O'Connell and husband, Brian, of Danvers, Stephanie Burrell-Stapley and her husband, Mark, Morgan Burrell and her partner, Jeff Lambray of Beverly; many great-grandchildren; a cousin, Joan Cromwell in England; and many relations in New York.
He was a very proud American for having served in the Seabees.
He loved the North Shore and his many stays at the Hawthorne Hotel.
