Salem — Mr. Daniel Sheehan, 84, of Salem, formerly of Waterford County Kerry, Ireland, beloved husband of the late Sarah (Murphy) Sheehan, died Sunday morning, July 28, 2013, at Essex Park Nursing Home in Beverly surrounded by his family.
Born in Ireland, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Elizabeth (Sullivan) Sheehan. He was raised and educated in Ireland, and immigrated to the United States in 1953.
Mr. Sheehan had been employed as a laborer for many years at the Sugar House in Charlestown, and more recently had been employed in the construction industry until the time of his retirement.
He was a loving father, brother and uncle. Dan was an avid walker and sports enthusiast, especially Gaelic football. He was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Salem, and will be deeply missed.
Dan’s family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff and family of Essex Park Nursing Home’s Larcom Unit for the wonderful care he received over the years.
Dan is survived by his son, Daniel J. Sheehan of Salem; his sister, Mary E. Kennedy of Peabody; his brother, Michael Sheehan of Ireland; and his sister-in-law, Hannah Sheehan of Everett; and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He was the brother of the late Patrick Sheehan.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from The O’Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., at Salem Common, Salem, on Thursday, at 9:15 a.m., followed by his funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, North St., Salem/Peabody Line at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
