Claire Albano, 77


Beverly, MA — Claire Rita (Markey) Albano, age 77, of Beverly, died September 17, 2013, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Frank P. Albano with whom she had shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Methuen, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Trombly) Markey.

Claire was a 1953 graduate of Johnson High School in North Andover and a graduate of Merrimack College in 1957. For many years she taught preschool in Beverly and Wenham. She later worked as a customer service representative for New England Telephone Company and retired from Verizon.

Claire enjoyed word and card games; she liked the challenge of crossword puzzles and she was often the winner at bridge, Scrabble, Cribbage and poker.

She was the mother of Elizabeth Harrison and her husband John of Melrose, Paul Albano and his wife Renee of Beverly and Christopher Albano and his wife Colleen of Beverly. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Haley, Madison, Jill, Nicholas and Chelsea; two brothers, John Markey and his wife Eileen of Edmond, Okla., and Donald Markey and his wife Carol of North Andover; several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

At Claire’s request, her Family will conduct a private graveside service. Those desiring, may make a memorial donation to the Make a Wish Foundation, One Bullfinch Place, 2nd FL, Boston, MA 02114.
