Theresa P. (Madore) Fontaine, 88


Salem, MA — Theresa P. (Madore) Fontaine, 88, of Salem, passed away peacefully at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Rene A. Fontaine. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Abel and Antoinette (Damour) Madore. Theresa graduated from St. Anne's Grammar School and the Salem Commercial School. A lifelong Salem resident, Theresa married Rene on May 26, 1945. Along with raising a family, Theresa worked for the New England Telephone Co., Salem, and Shaughnessy Hospitals and Anderson Little. She was a parishioner of Ste. Anne's Church, a member of the 21 Club in Salem, and most recently a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Salem.

She is survived by six daughters, Linda Murphy and her husband, Joel, of Atkinson, N.H., Susan Bransfield and her husband, Edward, of Sarasota, Fla., Gloria Belfiore and her husband, Paul, of Salem, Jeanne Flynn and her husband, James, of Peabody, Mass., Rena Fontaine of Salem, and Laurie Fontaine and her fiancee, Kathleen Thibodeau of Beverly; two sons, Thomas Fontaine and his partner, John Adams of Nobleboro, Maine, and the Reverend David Fontaine of Fairfield, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Murphy of Atkinson, Jennifer Lynne of Ridgefield, Conn., David Murphy of Bartlett, N.H., Thomas Bransfield of Norton, Mass., Alan Bransfield of Methuen, Mass., and Edward Bransfield III of Methuen, Anthony Belfiore of Lynn, Mass., Andrea Berube of Salem, Cristina Tache of Woburn, Mass., Jamie Flynn of Peabody, and Allison Flynn of Peabody; and 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Theresa survived her 11 brothers and sisters, Bertrand, Robert, Allard, Albert, Laurent, Ferdinand, and Raymond Madore, Annette Daly, Helen Morin, Blanche Madore, and Carmel Bosse.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St., Route 1A/114, Salem, and to her funeral Mass, celebrated by Theresa's son, the Rev. David Fontaine, on Thursday, at 11 a.m., at Ste. Anne's Church, Jefferson Avenue, Salem. A private burial will be held in the National Veterans Cemetery at Bourne.
