Marblehead and Salem — Fred M. Kaufman passed away on September 22, 2013, after a prolonged illness. He was born in Lynn, Mass., and graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army for three years after graduation. He married his classmate, Betty Grob, in 1945, and they were married for 68 years, living predominantly in Marblehead. He was the owner of Matthew Printers and Stationers, and worked until his late 70s. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; children, Susan Gorban, Amy Kaufman Borovsky, Matthew, and Marcia Kaufman; grandchildren, Rebecca Gorban, Leah and Michael Gorman, Sara Kaufman, Emily Kaufman; and great-granddaughter, Elie Rose Gorman.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be held at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, Mass., at noon, on Tuesday, September 24. Interment will be in Pride of Lynn Cemetery. The family will receive condolences immediately following interment at the recreation hall at the Village Apartment Complex, 1 Carol Way, Salem, and then at his late residence, on Tuesday and Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the home of Matthew and Marcia Kaufman.
